The Festival
The 53rd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival was held in Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy, from 20th to 29th of July 2023. The jury was composed of 6500 kids and young people from all over Italy and 35 other countries, divided in 6 age groups (+3, +6, +10, +13, +16 and +18 plus the Impact section).
In 10 days the Festival registered 420 guests (actors, directors, artists, representatives of cultural, science and political and institutions, journalists). Around 70.000 people attended the music concerts held each evening in the main town square.
Macedonian participants
The Macedonian delegation was composed of 10 young participants selected among the participants of the last edition of Giffoni Macedonia: Teo, Damjan, Lina, Bojana, Chase, Leticia, Bisera, Kalina, Jovan and Maksim. They took part in all activities and were hosted in the families of their Italian jury companions.
Title and design of the 53rd edition
The theme of the 53rd edition was "Indispensabili" (necesarry), referring to all the things that are necessary for this world to be a good place: from young people who are indeed necessary for the future of the world, through the emotions, senses, but also the responsibilities . The author of the concept is the Italian writer Erri De Luca, and the desing was created by the Creative Director of Giffoni Experience, Luca Apolito.
