7th Giffoni Macedonia Youth Film Festival: 12 – 17 October
The seventh edition of “Gifoni Macedonia” opens at Cinema Millennium, with the screening of film “Imperfect Age” by Ulisse Lendaro. The festival will run 8-12 October, under the motto “AIR”.
Opening start with a performance by Luca Chikovani, a young Italian singer and actor of Georgian origin, folowed by opening speeches of Darko Basheski, Director of Giffoni Macedonia, Italian Ambassador Carlo Romeo and the President of Giffoni Opportunity Piero Rinaldi.
The festival’s international jury will be comprised of more than 600 children and youth from 10 countries, divided into three age-appropriate categories. Macedonian kids will host more than 50 jurors from nine nations such as Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The Cinematheque of Macedonia will host activities of the junior selections (children aged 10 to 13), while cadets (ages 14 to 16) and seniors (16-18) will attend events organized at the Youth Cultural Center.
This year the festival offers a programme including 15 films in official competition that have been admitted by some of the biggest and most influential film festivals in the world as well as youth film festivals.
Giffoni Macedonia also includes a revue programme with Italian and Macedonian Short films, films about Ecology, Air polution and protection of the enviroment.
The jurors will also participate in eight different creative workshops. Jubiors will join theatre, Modern dance and painting art workshops. Cadets and seniors, located at Youth Cultural Center will attend at six workshops on photography, film, One Take video, animation, make-up effects and motivational skills.
Another important project within the festival is “Una vita da social” (Life on social networks), realized in collaboration with the Italian Postal and Macedonian Police. A truck as teaching classroom wil be located in diferent parts of the city where Police officers will meet students, parents and teachers to educate them about online security and protection of privacy on internet as well as cyberbullying prevention.
The festival is supported by Ministery of Cultural Heritage in Italy, by Ministery of Culture in Macedonia, by the Macedonian Film Agency of Northern Macedonia and is organzed by Giffoni Opportunity, the Macedonian Film agancy and Planet M.
